For more than 30 years, our farm has been dedicated to raising donkeys and responsibly producing organic donkey milk.

With over 700 animals, our farm is distinguished by its focus on animal welfare and the exclusive use of organic products, sourced from our own land.

The closed-loop farm has an in-house managed donkey milk supply chain, ensuring quality and environmental sustainability at every stage of the production process.

Our company has a factory authorized with CE stamp for donkey milk processing from milking, pasteurization and freeze-drying.
Who we are
Our Story
Montebaducco Farm was founded in 1990 by the pioneering idea Of our family.
To date, we are the third generation , with the aim of safeguarding and enhancing the donkey species destined for extinction and at the same time with a deep desire to create an environmentally sustainable production chain.
Today, Montebaducco in addition to being a closed-cycle farm, is the largest livestock farm, internationally, specializing in donkey breeding and the leading Donkey Milk Supply Chain.
The farm takes its name from the hill on which it is located, called precisely Montebaducco.
Located in a rural oasis in the heart of the Reggio Emilia area, a land rich in farming traditions, love of animal husbandry and ancient gastronomic culture.

Love of donkeys and the land
Our farm’s donkey herd has about 700 head, and is the largest in Europe.
The donkeys are raised in large green and hilly areas, with full respect for animal welfare and all sanitation regulations.
The animals are fed exclusively with organic products that come from the 80 hectares of land that make up the farm, where the methods of organic farming and animal husbandry are scrupulously followed.
For this reason, the farm and the donkey milk are certified organic by ICEA.

Closed-loop company: sustainability and quality
Montebaducco is a closed-loop organic farm with its own donkey milk supply chain.
This means that all agricultural and livestock production stages and especially donkey milk processing are carried out in-house. Even the animals are fed only organic products grown by the farm itself.
This increases the level of sustainability in terms of environmental impact and quality of raw materials and finished product.

The CE stamped donkey milk processing plant includes a sophisticated donkey milk processing plant following all stages of milk: from milking, to pasteurization, to freeze-drying.
This plant integrates the most advanced technology with the best donkey milk research.
Donkey milk production at the Montebaducco farm is closely monitored in order to meet high standards of quality and food safety in accordance with national and European standards.
The whole operation meets the strict national and EU requirements for export even outside the European Union.
